“When I started drawing the square sheep they represented society’s narrow mindedness and rejection of things new or different. But after I had a near-fatal car accident, the sheep came to mean something different to me, more to do with my wife and kids. My family is one of the biggest influences on me now; I love them with all my heart.” -Mackenzie Thorpe

In this limited edition Mackenzie Thorpe print, two square sheep share a tender moment beneath a lush green tree, nearly hidden among the brush. Red heart-shaped flowers bloom in the foreground and are scattered throughout the background, set against a clear blue sky. Both the heart flowers and square sheep are iconic elements in Thorpe’s signature style. The square sheep symbolize Thorpe’s own family—his wife, son, and daughter. One sheep nuzzles the mother figure, both smiling warmly, creating a joyful and affectionate scene. Inspired by the North Yorkshire countryside and shaped by a life-changing car accident, Thorpe began using the sheep to represent the strength and love of family. Themes of love, family, and emotional connection run through all of Thorpe’s work, resonating with people across cultures. His art celebrates life’s most meaningful bonds with authenticity and hope.
